Stepping stones (pre-k) lesson

Here are a few activities you can do while your child is home with you to reinforce God's teachings with them.

Toddlers: Draw a path and a stick figure on the path and then use paint or ink on their finger and have them follow the path. "Come & follow me,' Jesus said." Matthew 4:19

Preschool: Read Matthew 9:9-12 then set out a tablecloth or placemat, plate, cup, napkins, juice/water, & snacks on the table & have your child help you set the table. Jesus had dinner at Matthew's house and everyone was invited. Everyone can follow Jesus!

Preschool: Write out your child's name on a blank piece of paper and use ink/paint on their finger and allow them to take the outlines of their name and remind them that they can follow Jesus just like they followed the lines to their name.

River rocks (k-5) lesson

Here are a few activities you can do while your child is home with you to reinforce God's teachings with them.

Kindergarten: Freeze dance, once kid freezes then call out one way that we can take a step toward forgiving others or showing other that we have forgiven them. (fist bump a neighbor, smile a a person, wave to a person, say hello to a person, give a person a compliment) Read Colossians 3:13 Jesus teaches forgiveness. Lay out a large piece of paper or several sheets of paper & the your child's feet, then allow them to trace your feet & others in the home & place them in a row. Write a word inside each foot outline & decorate. Discuss steps they can take toward fixing a relationship when things go wrong.

1st & 2nd grade: Give each family member a pencil & have them balance it on their head, then play a silly song & have them walk around, if they drop their pencil they freeze, another person may help them by placing their pencil on their head & then they can move again. Ask them what happened when their pencil fell? Remind them that they couldn't move until someone helped them. Read Colossians 3:13 together. Discuss ways that they can forgive others and when they should forgive.

3rd-5th grade: Discuss times when it is hard to forgive someone. What can keep us from forgiving others? What are things people do when they hold a grudge? What have you learned that can help you take the first step to forgive? Read Colossians 3:13 Give scenarios and ask your child to show a thumbs up if they should forgive  and a thumbs down if they shouldn't forgive depending on the scenario given. (It should always be thumbs up.)
