RIVERBEND PARTNERS WITH THE PEOPLE OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, SO THAT THEY MAY COME EXPERIENCE AND ENCOUNTER JESUS CHRIST, CONNECT TO A COMMUNITY OF FOLLOWERS OF JESUS, AND COMMIT TO LIVING OUT GOD’S PASSIONS IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY AND AROUND THE WORLD.
The name “Riverbend” is based on the Lehigh Riverbend between Allentown and Bethlehem. (Also, where we meet on Sunday mornings!). This river is a visual representation of our mission — Just as it flows through the valley, It’s our desire to “flood” the Valley with the living water of Jesus. In the last decade we have had the privilege to be in and for the Lehigh Valley!
Our History:
We started serious prayer & planning for Riverbend Community Church in May 2008. During the first 15 months we held monthly Preview Gatherings, monthly Events, several weekly Community Groups. We also wrote down our beliefs, established by-laws, became incorporated, developed a children's ministry, got our finances in order, opened a checking account, and got a mailbox. And Riverbend Community Church was launched on September 13, 2009. Since then, we have seen God move in exciting ways within the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
Our vision continues to be refined, and probably will continue to do so forever. We are depending on the Lord to cause effective ministry to be done, and we heartily welcome you to join us on this journey!
What We Do.
Ultimately, our desire is to help people live for Jesus and love the valley. Yet we know that people are at a variety of places in the spiritual journey, so we want to meet them wherever they are at and help them take the next step towards following Jesus. This is discipleship. We do this through our Gatherings, Groups, and Events, by being in and for our community, making disciples together in real, everyday ways, and equipping people to do what God has created them to do. We live this out through our values.
